Out to Dinner

Daddy took baby out for walk in her brand new stroller. The whole family went down the street to Dodie's to introduce Madeline to cajun food. All she ordered was milk.

Baby Stream of Conciousness

So really, what are babies thinking when they make all of those crazy faces? Well, here are my guesses.

Hey, why am I upright again?

Wait a second, who are you?

What the heck are these things again?

Now I'm tired again.

So tired I can hardly see straight.

Comment with your guesses.

Tiny Fingers

She just can't get much cuter.

New Grandparents say goodbye

Barney and Gayle left today, so we got a few shots with them and baby.

She must be sad to see them go.

Bath Time!

We got to give Madeline her first bath today. What fun!

We thought she might not like the water, but she took to it just fine.

Semtner Family

Great Grandma Eleanor was here to visit along with Madeline's new Godfather John. They were happy to take over for us when it came to holding our sweet girl.

Visitors

We had our first mini open house today to show of our little darling, and another little darling came by to see. We're always happy to see Leah, and I think she's going to like Madeline

Wow, she's smaller than me.

I think that's enough baby for now.

Grandma Gayle's here to visit

GG (Grandma Gayle) came to Dallas over the weekend to visit. We put her to work on diaper changing and wardrobe duty.

Memories...

Help, I can't reach my feet!

Coming Home

Mama and Madeline were finally able to come home today! She slept all the way home, and continued her nap in the house for another hour.

I think we got her in there correctly

Daddy drove nicely all the way home

Not a peep

We're all happy to be home.

Sweet Dreams

Who knows what she might be dreaming about, but she sure is adorable doing it.

Sweet dreams darling.

Hello!

This is what Madeline looks like when she's had enough to eat. Her hungry face is much different.

Thanks Mom

Look at my beautiful eyes

Hiccups

Madeline gets the hiccups every now and again. It shouldn't be a surprise considering how often Jen had to deal with them while carrying her.

I just can't stop watching this one!

Birthmark

Jen and I searched around for any birthmarks, and we found the common "stork bite" on the back of her neck. It may go away in the coming years, but we're not worried about anything so trivial at this point.

Hello There

Madeline seeing Mama for the first time.

Just look at those eyes.

Recovery

Jen had to set her groggy butt in recovery before she could come face-to-face with our new baby girl. Gayle and Barney kept us company.

The Weigh In!

In this corner...from Dallas, Texas...weighing in at 7 lbs, 7 oz...it's Madeline "The Pelvic Bruiser" Vaughn! The first Native Texan in the Vaughn lineage.

Delivery!

At 4:50 pm, on May 11, 2009, our new baby, Madeline Marie Vaughn, made her way into this world. I can still hear the sharp ring of that first cry.

Wahhhhhhhhhhh!

Now, what do we do?

Surgery

After 23 hours of induction that was simply going nowhere, we opted for the unexpected C-Section. After the decision was made, we were on our way to surgery in less than an hour.

We're more nervous than it looks

Waiting...

Here's a photo of Jen in the Labor & Delivery Room. If I had a picture for every fruitless hour that we were in this room, I'd have 23 photos. I don't have that many, as Jen would have strangled me by then.

Baby's Room

Just before leaving for the hospital, I took a few shots of the room to show off our hard work.
